We resolved the issues with Blog*Spot late yesterday; we were especially unlucky in having numerous machines exhibit a similar problem at the same time. We will be implementing additional monitoring to give us early warning should this condition arise again as well as making longer-term infrastructure changes to prevent it from occuring.
The sluggishness with Blogger has also been addressed by tending to a particularly addled database server. Here we are also putting in place new monitoring to watch for this type of problem and making changes to prevent the machines from becoming similarly overloaded.
