As noted on the blogger.com news blog, we will be down for scheduled maintenance for 2 hours this evening from 8-10pm (Pacific Time).
A lot of the trouble we've had in the past couple weeks has been due to old system architecture problems. The way in which the network was configured last year is no longer appropriate for our growing service. So we're making the changes needed to make Blogger more stable and scalable.
This maintenance window will be used to change the way in which our database machines are configured to access the network. Previously, we've been using two different networks within the Blogger system and we'll be retiring the older, unneeded network.
In a separate downtime, we will be replacing a key database server that has been responsible for a lot of the recent trouble. News of the scheduled downtime will be posted on the blogger.com news blog and cross-posted here.
