Ok, I've turned publishing back on. Let's see how it goes. I didn't do all the possible improvements, but I did what I could do quickly, and it was quite a bit. I tested everything and don't think I broke anything (knock on wood). Hopefully the improved efficiency will be noticable. So far it's faster than hell. But the user load probably hasn't built back up yet...
